The below listed types of Summary Appeals are to be filed with the Department of Court Records, Criminal Division within 30 calendar days. The hours of filing are weekdays between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. The location is Room 114 of the Courthouse.
All Summary Appeals must be filed in person.
All Traffic Tickets (if traffic ticket results in driver’s license suspension, a separate appeal must be filed in the Civil/Family Division)
- All Summary ordinances (for example: Housing Court, Health Department, and Wage Tax Violations)
- All Summary Crime Code Violations including:
THE NON-REFUNDABLE FILING FEE FOR A SUMMARY APPEAL IS $91.00. THIS FEE MUST BE PAID BY MONEY ORDER OR CASH. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Defiant Trespass
- Underage Drinking
- Disorderly Conduct
- Obstructing Traffic
- Bad Checks
- Dog Law Violations
- Retail Theft
Please note: Anyone who is without financial resources to pay these costs may, by completing an “IN FORMA PAUPERIS PETITION” in Room 114, request the court to waive the fees. This person must bring proof of income, such as Social Security, Disability, Workmen’s Compensation, Unemployment, Public Assistance, full time high school or college student.
The person filing a Summary Appeal must bring the Magisterial District Judge’s name and address and the name and address of the Police Officer or Affiant who filed the original charges. All other information that is pertinent to the case, date of citation, citation number, date of conviction, violation and section number must also be brought.
All Civil Cases, including Landlord – Tenant disputes, license suspensions, etc. are filed with the Civil/Family Division of Court Records on the First Floor of the City-County Building.
