Benefits & Services

Municipalities that take part in the League's activities benefit as follows:
  • The League works to improve governmental liaisons with county, regional, state and federal agencies. These contacts and participation make cooperation between these agencies and the municipalities much more fruitful.

  • The League works closely with the area's legislative delegation. After each legislative election, a reception is held to welcome newly elected legislators and to show appreciation to the delegation for its cooperation. This provides a support network for the members as well as the legislators. The League provides legislative information to its members as deemed appropriate by its Board, making this relationship even more important. The coordination of efforts also allows the League to speak with "one voice" to the delegation on legislative matters common to the area's local governments.

  • In addition to the League's Newsletter, an annual Wage & Salary Report is published to assist members in negotiating new labor contracts. The Allegheny County Boroughs Association and the Allegheny County Association of Township Officials each publish an annual yearbook.

  • The League administers a Municipal Deferred Compensation Plan for municipal employees with assets in excess of $80 million. The plan is open to any employee whose municipality is a member of the League.
