PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that thirteen new food establishments opened in the County in December. There were nine restaurants, two confectionaries, and two mobile vendors.
“The Health Department’s monthly report highlights the new restaurants that use trans-fat free cooking oils. Five of the nine eateries that opened last month cook with these healthier oils,” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.
The restaurants using trans-fat free cooking oils are Shirl The Pearl’s, 2407 Wylie Avenue, Hill District; Mt. Lebanon Pub & Pizza, 329 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Mt. Lebanon; Italian Village Pizza, 2951 Ridge Road, South Park; Gus’s Café, 4717 Butler Street, Lawrenceville; and 565 Café & Grille, 565 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue.
The other new restaurants include TJ Buffet Sushi & Grill, 590 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, #121, Frazer; Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, 2010 Wharton Street, Southside; Frankfurters Hot Dogs, 564 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue; and Pizza Cono, 5819 Forbes Avenue, Squirrel Hill.
Four other food establishments also opened last month: Heaven Sent Frozen Yogurt, 590 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Frazer; Two Girls 1 Cart, 8938 Knoll Street, McCandless; Reids Fresh Express, 184 Old English Road, Ross; and Sincerely Yogurt Greentree Sports Plex, 600 Iron City Drive, Greentree.
