Allegheny County Day of Caring
Kane Regional Center at Glen Hazel
October 18, 2007

Allegheny County employees participated in the annual Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way. This year our recipient was the Kane Regional Centers, located throughout Allegheny County. Kane provides services to Allegheny County residents who need long-term nursing home care.

There was some hootin’ and hollerin’ at Country Western Day at the Scott Center. Pumpkin carving was an art at the McKeesport October Fest and the residents enjoyed the karaoke session. There was fun and food a'plenty at the Ross Kane Carnival. At the Glen Hazel Kane all artists, horticulturalists, bakers helped paint blackboard walls, plant/transplant indoor plants, bake bread for the residents and biscuits for doggies in local shelters.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the Day of Caring a success. We hope the county volunteers enjoyed it as much as the residents. Thanks to everyone whose efforts resulted in an outstanding experience for all those involved.

Glen Hazel Food Service Dept. arranged refreshments with a Fall theme.

Sam Pugliano & friends entertained the residents & volunteers with Polka music.
