Izzazu Day of Beauty
For the second year in a row, Izzazu Salon | Spa | Serata has generously agreed to offer a “Day of Beauty” for persons involved with DHS. However, this year instead of one Day of Beauty for ten people, Izzazu will be providing a Day of Beauty each month for 2013, serving a total of 12 people. Each participant can select a service from a menu of options– haircut; haircut and color; facial; manicure; massage; eyebrow and upper lip waxing; and makeup application.
"It’s our pleasure to partner with DHS once again and offer our broad selection of salon and spa services to those who could use a boost" said Emilio Cornacchione, co-owner. “Izzazu is committed to giving back to the community.”
The January recipient, Monnie, hadn’t had her hair professionally styled in a long time and couldn’t believe her luck when Andrea Bustos, case manager, called to let her know that she was going to receive a Day of Beauty.
Just like any patron, Monnie called to schedule her hair appointment for color and a cut at a time that was convenient for her during regular business hours.
On the day of the appointment, Monnie admits that she was uncomfortable at first, but her hairstylist, Meg Fratare, was a pleasure. “Meg treated me be like a customer and not a DHS client,” said Monnie. “She took her time with me and spent the whole afternoon styling my hair. It changed my world.”
Meg volunteered to be part of this Day of Beauty. “It was great to meet Monnie and help her feel special,” said Meg. “Everyone wants to feel like a million bucks.”
Monnie not only felt good, but now she can confidently go to the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Center to renew her license. “My birthday is coming up and I was just dreading getting my picture taken for my driver’s license. But not anymore,” she laughed.
