Father-Daughter Program Prepares Snack Bags for CYF Youth
On September 16, the young members of the South Hills YMCA Indian Princess Mighty Cayuga Tribe decorated and packed 50 snack bags for youth involved with the Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF). The snack bags – which included a drink, fruit snack, granola bar, crackers and oatmeal pie – were given to the Northern and Central Regional Offices for youth who are having family visits or office meetings. The project was spearheaded by Jacki Hoover, program manager in the DHS Executive Office.
“The tribe is a father-daughter organization to strengthen family bonds while offering fun, adventure and an opportunity to give back to the community,” said Jacki. “Through this project, we were able to teach the girls how to be empathetic toward those who may be struggling at home and learn about children in foster care in Allegheny County. We hope the bags were able to bring a little bit of comfort to some of the youth involved with CYF.”
