KUDOS: Foster Care Project Nominated for National Award
Since 2008, the DHS Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) has worked with UPMC, Community Care Behavioral Health and the Department of Public Welfare to improve outcomes for children involved in child welfare as part of the Foster Care Project. This project was funded by a Center for Health Care Strategies, Inc. grant and was designed to ensure that children in foster care have an electronic health record and receive medical, dental and behavioral health services, as needed.
The Foster Care Project has been quite a success, and was recently nominated for top honors at the Medicaid Health Plans of American Center for Best Practices Second Annual Awards Forum. The event and award ceremony will be held on April 30 in Washington, DC.
