Judge McVay hosts 4th annual tailgating event for youth in CYF, Juvenile Probation
On Saturday, Sept. 24, Judge John T. McVay Jr. hosted a tailgating party and provided free Pittsburgh Pirates game tickets for a group of youth involved in DHS Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) and Juvenile Probation services.
Approximately 80 youth took part in the tailgating and watched the Pirates play the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park that day. This was the fourth consecutive year Judge McVay has organized this event for youth and it’s been an event he looks forward to each year.
“I thought this year's event was the most well-attended yet and an outstanding success,” said Judge McVay. “I do it every year because some of my fondest memories both as a child and adult are of days at the ballpark, and I hope our kids have a similar experience. I just hope they had a fun day.”
Youth who participated in the day’s festivities were identified by the DHS Office of Community Relations (OCR) and the DHS Youth Support Partner Unit with the help of DHS provider agencies Auberle, Gwen’s Girls, Circle C Youth and Family Services, Three Rivers Youth and Familylinks.
The Allegheny County Music Festival Fund (ACMFF) provided funding for the tailgate food that was supplied by Nutrition Inc.
